Orange Course

Links style downland course with stunning views.

28th Hole

Par 4

Stroke Index: Ladies 16/15, Men 16/15

The 28th hole introduces you to the Orange course, which is quite different in character and design to the other courses at Cumberwell. There is much room on the fairway but tee shot placement is still of the utmost importance. On this drivable par four you will need to be aware of the many severe slopes on and around the green if you are to get a birdie. For example, there is a nasty little downhill slope at the start of this green.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 277 yards

  • Purple: 298 yards

  • White: 312 yards

  • Green: 331 yards

A scenic view of a golf course with green grass, sand bunkers, trees, and a clear blue sky with scattered clouds.

Pro Advice

Do not be fooled by its length. If the wind is in your favour then you can go for the green. But coming up just short will leave a very difficult pitch to a sloping green.

29th Hole

Par 3

Stroke Index: Ladies 12/11, Men 12/11

The 29th is an early par three that is formidable from the back tee. From the regular tees it is quite possible to use the right hand slopes to feed your shot in close to the pin. The green has some acute undulations in, that can lead to some interesting putting.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 123 yards

  • Purple: 150 yards

  • White: 180 yards

  • Green: 224 yards

A bright blue sky with scattered fluffy white clouds over a golf course. The course has neatly trimmed green grass, sand bunkers, and a large leafy tree on the right side. Rolling hills and greenery extend into the distance.

Pro Advice

The first of the par threes. Favour the right side for your tee shot. However, anything too far right will leave you an impossible pitch to  a green that slopes away from you.

30th Hole

Par 4

Stroke Index: Ladies 8/7, Men 8/7

The 30th hole is a medium length par four where the strategy is dictated by the green and the pin location. Generally it is best to drive up the right side on this hole to open up as much of the green as possible. However, if the pin is cut on the right side of the green you will probably be better advised to favour the left. The key though is to hit that fairway and try not to leave yourself a downhill putt, as they can be treacherous.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 288 yards

  • Purple: 355 yards

  • White: 385 yards

  • Green: 410 yards

A golf course green with a flagstick, surrounded by trees and a blue sky with wispy clouds.

Pro Advice

An interesting par four that makes you think at all times. The tee shot has bunkers to avoid and a fairway to find. A well shaped second shot is needed to hold the green that slopes from right to left.

31st Hole

Par 3

Stroke Index: Ladies 18/17, Men 18/17

This is a great little par three with a punchbowl green. Beware of the wind which can whistle in from the right side. Sometimes the best play is to try and hit a soft fade into this narrow and very long green.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 121 yards

  • Purple: 147 yards

  • White: 169 yards

  • Green: 188 yards

A golf course with a putting green, surrounded by grassy hills and a few trees, under a partly cloudy sky.

Pro Advice

A beautiful par three that plays longer than you think. The uphill shot normally plays into a wind that can get hold of the ball and drop it short of the green. Take one more club and try and get into the back of the green!

32nd Hole

Par 4

Stroke Index: Ladies 10/9, Men 10/9

Decide which side of the fairway bunkers you are going on this medium length par four. The fairway is nearing 100 yards in width so there is little excuse for missing it but sometimes a safe shot to the right side will leave a very awkward second to a testing little green. Also, the better player needs to be aware that the fairway narrows dramatically when you get within pitching distance of the green.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 290 yards

  • Purple: 318 yards

  • White: 339 yards

  • Green: 365 yards

A golf course with a sand bunker in the foreground, lush green grass, a flag on a hole, and expansive open landscape under a bright blue sky with streaks of white clouds.

Pro Advice

The choice to lay up or try and carry the bunkers will determine the length of your 2nd shot to a well guarded green. The safe play is up the right hand side of the faiway leaving a mid to short iron to the green.

33rd Hole

Par 4

Stroke Index: Ladies 4/3, Men 4/3

You are now at the highest point on the estate so take time to appreciate the spectacular views over the next couple of holes. This particular hole is a long par four played into the prevailing wind. It also is a great design, in that it shares the fairway with the 34th hole, so it is possible to go as far right as you wish and still be on the fairway. However, this will give you a very long and totally blind second to a classic skyline green.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 361 yards

  • Purple: 404 yards

  • White: 416 yards

  • Green: 423 yards

A golf course with lush green grass, trees, and a path in the foreground under a partly cloudy blue sky.

Pro Advice

What a view! This hole is the highest point on the course and plays into the wind. A good drive may give you a chance of getting on the green in two. The skyline green however, makes it difficult to judge the distance of your second shot.

34th Hole

Par 5

Stroke Index: Ladies 6/5, Men 6/5

The 34th hole is another great driving hole. The ideal is just to the right, or even over the right hand fairway bunker in the distance. However, on this line you have to be accurate. A safe bailout drive to the right will set up a relatively easy par but be aware of that fiendish bunker surrounded by long rough that is positioned 50 yards from the green.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 469 yards

  • Purple: 540 yards

  • White: 548 yards

  • Green: 570 yards

A golf course with a flag on the green, green grass, rolling landscape, and a partly cloudy blue sky.

Pro Advice

A good drive down the left side can allow you to go for the green in two. However, the further you hit it, the narrower the fairway gets. Play this hole as a three shotter and it can be an easy par.

35th Hole

Par 5

Stroke Index: Ladies 2/1, Men 2/1

An awesome hole that is approaching 600 yards from the back markers and is played directly into the prevailing wind. The key to achieveing a birdie is to favour the right side on your second shot. This will allow you the best approach into the green. The green itself could only be described as eccentric, especially on the back left side.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 496 yards

  • Purple: 526 yards

  • White: 565 yards

  • Green: 597 yards

A golf course with a green putting area, a yellow flag marking the hole, surrounded by rolling hills, trees, and a clear blue sky.

Pro Advice

This is a definite three shotter! A tee shot down the left will keep you away from the bunker. Hit your first two long shots on the fairway and you have a chance of making par.

36th Hole

Par 3

Stroke Index: Ladies 14/13, Men 14/13

A fitting finale! The walled backdrop can be used to try and rebound your ball back off from. However, the greatest hazard is actually the little hidden swale short and right off the green. This will swallow up any shot that is weakly hit leaving a testing little chip.

Tees and Yards

  • Black: 119 yards

  • Purple: 142 yards

  • White: 150 yards

  • Green: 215 yards

A golf course with green grass, a stone wall, trees, and a blue sky with scattered clouds.

Pro Advice

An amazing finish to any course! Club section is again key here. Check your yardage, the wind direction and find the green. Hole the putt and straight into the 37th hole to celebrate!?!
