Welcome to the Cumberwell Park Ladies Section from Sue Cooper (Lady Captain)

I would like to extend to you all a very warm welcome to Cumberwell Park, which is a flourishing, vibrant and inclusive club. We continue to thrive and grow as a Ladies Section alongside the seniors and juniors as part of a large Golf Club.

A friendly welcome awaits visitors, guests and any lady who is interested in playing or learning to play golf. We are keen to encourage new members who are always welcome. The Ladies Section provides a comprehensive ‘Welcome Pack’ and offer ‘Welcome’ sessions every 2-3 weeks, particularly in the summer months for new members.

Whatever your level of ability, we have an experienced group of professionals led by John Jacobs, who run extensive group and individual lessons for beginners as well as improving or established players needing to develop, extend or refine their skills.

The wide and flexible range of membership options makes Cumberwell an excellent choice. The Ladies play regularly on a Monday morning with a mixture of social and competitive golf to suit all abilities with regular medal and stableford qualifying competitons or rounds with an ‘alternative’ day at the weekend. For members who feel 9 holes are sufficient, a ‘9 Hole’ group plays every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month during the season. Competitions are available across the Club as well as mixed and team comps.

The James’ family owners have created a well-established and highly respected Golf Club. Their vision and innovation underpin a thriving and progressive golf club.

I have been a member for 24 years and feel privileged to have the opportunity to play at such a high-quality golf facility offering a varied mixture of 36 holes, a 9-hole Par 3 course and superb extensive practice and driving range facilities. We have something for players of all standards.
The ladies run two Scratch Teams in the Wiltshire League and a newly promoted Handicap League Team as well as friendly matches with 9 other Wiltshire Clubs.

I am honoured to be Lady Captain at Cumberwell Park for 2018/19 on our 25th Anniversary year. My chosen charities are; “Above and Beyond” in aid of Bristol Heart Institute and Bath’s RUH new Cancer Centre. Both of which are close to my heart.

Working with my Vice Captain, Helen Walker and Committee, I hope to continue the open and relaxed welcome to new members and visitors and look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the coming twelve months.
