Cumberwell park Golf Club Irrigation System Upgrade We are approaching the start of the irrigation system upgrade at Cumberwell Park. The design of the new system has been carried out by a highly recognised company who are involved with a wide range of projects around the world.

Many golf clubs would choose to use a contractor to install a new irrigation system but we are unique at Cumberwell in that we aim to carry out all projects in-house using our own skills as well as investing in the appropriate machinery.

The first phase of the project is to install a new mainline system. The pipes we are installing, up to 315mm in diameter, will give us much more capacity around the course. This will enable us to water the greens and tees more effectively.

The initial trenching will be started at the pump house which is sited behind the 19th green. The route will then head towards the back of the 16th green and then head up the left hand side of the 17th. At this stage, there will be no disruption to play but golfers will be made aware of open trenches or other hazards associated with the project. The mainline will predominantly be dug in the rough – well away from fairways.

This is a large project which will be ongoing throughout the year and we will keep all golfers updated with the progress.
